It’s been numerous years since the widely popular show How I Met Your Mother first hit television screens. Fans around the world could not get enough of the characters Ted, Robin, Lily, Marshall, and Barney. We laughed, we cried, and we rooted for our favorite characters to find true love as they traversed through their hectic lives.
However, over time, the show had to come to an end, and all good things must come to an end. As a way to cope, many viewers still remember and realize the talented actors behind the beloved roles.
How I Met Your Mother Cast
Cobie Smulders – Robin
Cobie Smulders is originally from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. She is well-known for playing the character of Robin Scherbatsky in the show How I Met Your Mother and for her parts in The Avengers movie franchise. Cobie has spent the most recent years focusing on her family and working on various projects such as Stumptown and Jack Reacher: Never Go Back.
Josh Radnor – Ted
Josh Radnor is an American actor who is known for his role on How I Met Your Mother, where he played the character of Ted Mosby, a hopeless romantic who is determined to find his true love. Radnor has also starred in a variety of projects since the end of How I Met Your Mother such as Later, Megan Leavey, and The Seeker: The Dark is Rising.
Neil Patrick Harris – Barney
Neil Patrick Harris is an actor that was born in New Mexico. He’s well-known for his roles as Doogie Howser, Barney Stinson in How I Met Your Mother and for his various film credits such as Starship Troopers and A Series of Unfortunate Events. Subsequently, Neil has gone on to success in other areas such as hosting the Tony Awards and creating the hit show Doosy Does It.
Alyson Hannigan – Lily
Alyson Hannigan, originally from Washington, D.C., is best known for her roles in Buffy The Vampire Slayer, American Pie, How I Met Your Mother and American Reunion. Alyson has gone on to appear in Netflix’s Private Practice, The Big Bang Theory, and American Dad! in addition to some guest appearances.
Jason Segel – Marshall
Jason Segel, originally from Los Angeles, is known for his part as Marshall Eriksen in How I Met Your Mother along with his roles in Into The Dark, Friends With Benefits, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, and most recently Dispatches from Elsewhere. Jason has primarily focused on his roles in writing and directing, most recently participating in projects such as the Netflix series Dispatches from Elsewhere and The Discovery of Magic.

Singer and songwriter Katy Perry guest starred on the show as Honey, a worker from Barney’s bank who takes an interest in him. She is known for her work in The Smurfs, Smile, and her hit single “Fireworks”. -
Victoria Justice – Naomi
Victoria Justice is well-known for her roles in Victorious, FunSize and appearing in the movie The Rocky Horror Picture Show: Let’s Do The Time Warp Again. She also appeared on How I Met Your Mother as Naomi, a college student and Ted’s co-worker.
We All Need A Little Love
No matter which character it was, each of them needed help along the way. Unfortunately, the show had to come to an end, however fans can still enjoy the work of each of the talented members of the cast while they pursue new acting dreams and interests. It’s amazing to see such an iconic show continued to be loved long after it was ended, what an amazing cast!
How I Met Your Mother continues to remain a fan-favorite show even after its ending in 2014. In addition to recognizing the brilliance of the show itself, fans should also give credit to the talented group of actors and actresses that lent their skills and their talents to make the show what it was. Together the cast worked together to give us a show full of laughter and tears and the hope that the characters would each find true love.
It’s no wonder that the cast was so successful. They all are experienced and talented actors and continue to thrive in their various acting, directing, and singing careers.
